![]() ONE MONTH BEFORE YOU MOVE Parking - arrange a parking space for our removal vehicles at the new address. Do not leave it for last minute. Landlord/Tenant - inform your landlord about your planned moving date. Bank - notify your bank about changing addresses and check where the nearest branch is. Maybe it is no longer comfortable to have your account in this bank. Insurance - notify your insurance companies: motor, life, home, etc. Driving Licence - send an appropriate part of your licence and send it to DVLC. Post Office - let your post office know about the new address about 7 days before moving. You must do it over the counter. Schools - find new school for your children, register them and let the old school know about the leaving date. Inland Revenue - notify your local tax office. National Insurance/ DSS Benefits - notify your DSS office. TV licence - contact your TV Licensing and transfer your licence to the new address. Doctor - notify your current doctor about changes and find a new closer one. Subscriptions - contact all organisations/companies to which you subscribe and tell them the new address. Vehicle Licence - send relevant documents with your new address. Mobile Phones - about two weeks before moving contact your providers (do not forget internet) and let them know the date and address of the new house. Any Future Deliveries - if you are expecting any soon deliveries (new curtains?) let them know about moving. Library - find the nearest library and register. Cancel your existing account with the old one. Items on Loan - check if there is anything you should give back before leaving. Standing Orders - notify all the companies from which you are taking a loan or have a hire purchase agreement. Packing Materials/Boxes - if you are going to do the packing on your own, order all the required materials a month before. You can pack your stuff step by step and label it. There is no need to leave it for the last day. Council Tax - notify appropriate authorities in both addresses. Inform Friends/Family - the easiest one to forget? Maybe mass mail is not a bad idea in this case? Cleaning - if you are going to have your houses cleaned, make sure you have arranged it before. Milk/Newspaper deliveries - cancel your current supplier.
Electricity - advise you new provider about moving date and cancel account with the old one. Try to do it about two weeks prior to move. Gas - choose your new supplier. The market is very competitive nowadays, so you do not have to be so much in hurry. Water- this you can leave for the last week. Call your current supplier to arrange disconnection and the new supplier to inform about moving date.
Cash for last - minute emergencies- keep some cash with you. You will feel safer. Recharge mobiles - put your mobile to recharge a night before. Start running down your freezer. Get rid of items you do not need anymore. Double check this list and see if you did not miss anything! Fragile - mark all the boxes or bags with fragile items, so that movers will know where to place them to avoid scratches or damages. Childcare - do not forget to arrange babysitting for your children on the moving day.
Keys - make sure you have the keys to the new house. Removal form - when the moving crew arrive and team leader introduce the whole team, double check the removal form so that there will be no misunderstanding Nothing left - once the vehicles are loaded go around the house and make sure nothing is left. Refreshments - leave some biscuits and drinks, so that everyone is refreshed.
